RTP
Theoretical return to player calculated over a very large number of games, never an individual promise.
Variance
A measure of how widely results fluctuate around the expected average.
Volatility
A practical description of the frequency and size of a game’s wins and losses.
Expected value
The theoretical average result of a decision repeated a very large number of times.
Probability
A measure between 0 and 1 of how likely an event is to occur.
Odds
A representation of estimated probability and potential payout, including operator margin.
Margin
The adjustment built into odds or rules that contributes to the operator’s expected revenue.
Stake
The amount risked on a game or event and liable to be lost.
Bankroll
A separate gambling budget that must never include money needed for essentials.
Bonus
A promotional benefit subject to conditions, often wagering requirements and deadlines.
Wagering requirement
The amount that must be wagered before a bonus or related winnings may be withdrawn.
Licence
Authorisation granted to an entity for specifically defined products, domains and territories.
Regulator
Authority responsible for supervising the market, licensing and enforcement.
Whitelist
Official register of operators, domains or products currently authorised.
KYC
Know Your Customer checks used to verify identity and age, among other matters.
Self-exclusion
A tool allowing a person to block their own access to gambling for a defined period.
Deposit limit
A cap on the amount that can be deposited over a given period.
Chasing losses
Increasing or repeating bets in an attempt to recover a loss quickly.
Problem gambling
Gambling that causes or risks financial, relational, professional or health harm.
Random number generator
A system producing digital game outcomes through a controlled, unpredictable process.
Independent events
The principle that a past result does not change the probability of the next draw.
Gambler’s fallacy
The mistaken belief that a past streak makes the opposite result due soon.
Liquidity
Available volume of players or bets, especially relevant to poker and betting markets.
Cash out
An option to settle a bet before it ends at a recalculated value.
Progressive jackpot
A prize pool that grows with wagers until it is triggered.
Live dealer game
A streamed game with a real dealer, subject to the same legal checks as the relevant offer.
Authorised domain
An internet address expressly linked to a licence in an official register.
Payout percentage
The theoretical share of stakes returned as prizes over a long period, not an individual forecast.
Rake
A fee charged by a poker room from a pot, game or entry amount.
Accumulator bet
A bet combining several selections, each of which normally must win for the quoted payout to apply.
Parimutuel payout
A payout calculated from the betting pool after deductions and divided among winning tickets.
Maximum stake
The highest amount accepted on a game, selection or during a defined period.
Net loss
The difference between money actually paid in and money successfully withdrawn over the period reviewed.
Time-out
A voluntary temporary account block, shorter than and distinct from formal self-exclusion.
Loss limit
A preset cap intended to stop or restrict play when net losses reach it.
Free bet
Promotional credit whose stake, winnings, validity and withdrawal terms may be restricted.
Gambling session
A continuous period of activity whose duration, deposits, stakes and result can be tracked together.
Prize pool
The total amount allocated to winners, fixed or funded from stakes under the rules.
Payout
The amount returned after a winning result, which may or may not include the original stake.
Bonus stake
Promotional value usable for betting, often non-withdrawable and subject to specific terms.
Decimal odds
A format showing the theoretical total return per unit staked, including the original stake.
Non-runner
A competitor withdrawn before an event, with bets handled under the applicable rules.
Void bet
A bet declared invalid under the rules, normally with the affected stake returned.
Withdrawal limit
The maximum amount withdrawable in one transaction or period under the service terms.
Account history
A record of deposits, withdrawals, bets, wins, bonuses and adjustments on an account.
Two-factor authentication
Security requiring a second proof of control in addition to a password at sign-in.
Domain impersonation
Use of an address resembling a known service to mislead users about a website’s identity.
Cash balance
The part of an account made up of deposited money or withdrawable winnings, separate from bonus credit.
Bonus balance
Promotional credit governed by offer-specific use, expiry and conversion rules.
Rollover
A wagering multiple applied to a deposit, bonus or winnings before withdrawal is allowed.
Demo play
A no-money version demonstrating gameplay that may not reproduce the experience of real financial risk.
Draw history
A record of past outcomes, useful for reference but not predictive when draws are independent.
Hit frequency
The theoretical share of plays producing a payout, without by itself showing payout size or net result.
Maximum win
The largest payout available under the rules, often tied to conditions and a very low probability.
Side bet
An optional bet alongside the main game, with its own probability and usually its own margin.
Push
A tied result under the rules where the main stake is normally returned.
Fairness audit
A documented review of a game’s random operation and parameters by a competent body.
Pot
The total stakes committed during a poker hand and awarded according to its outcome.
Blind
A compulsory stake posted before cards are dealt in several poker variants.
Ante
A compulsory contribution paid before a hand, usually by every player or on behalf of the table.
All-in
The act of committing all chips currently available in a poker hand.
Side pot
A separate pot created when players continue betting beyond another participant’s all-in amount.
Handicap
A theoretical advantage or disadvantage applied to the score to form a balanced betting market.
Over/under
A bet on whether a total will finish above or below a stated line.
Single bet
A bet containing one selection and settled independently of any other prediction.
Betting market
A specific question offered on an event, with its selections, rules and odds.
Betting cutoff
The time after which a bet can no longer be accepted for an event or draw.
Session time limit
A chosen or imposed maximum duration for a continuous period of play.
Reality check
A periodic notice showing elapsed time and sometimes the session’s financial result.
Age verification
A check intended to prevent access by people below the legally required age.
Dormant account
An account with no activity for the period defined in the service terms.
Withdrawal time
The time between a request, any required checks and actual receipt of funds.
Dispute resolution
An independent or regulated process for reviewing a dispute after a complaint to the service.
Implied probability
The probability derived from odds before adjusting for margin and market rules.
Overround
Implied probabilities totalling above 100%, used as an indicator of market margin.
Boosted odds
Promotional odds increased for a selection, subject to time, stake and eligibility terms.
Refund
The return of a stake or payment under a defined reason and procedure.
Payout cap
A contractual limit on the amount payable for a ticket, game or period.
Minimum stake
The smallest amount accepted to enter a game or select a market.
Paytable
A chart linking each qualifying outcome to the payout for that game version.
Multiplier
A factor applied to a stake or win when the stated conditions are met.
Free spin
A promotional spin whose value, winnings and withdrawal remain subject to stated terms.
Bonus feature
A special sequence or rule triggered within a game and described in its paytable.
Random mechanic
An element whose outcome is determined by chance rather than player action.
Random seed
An initial value used by a system to produce a sequence of pseudorandom results.
Certification
An attestation covering a specific scope and issued after defined checks.
Independent audit
A review by a body separate from the assessed entity under a stated standard.
Complaint
A formal request to a service disputing an operation or seeking a documented response.
Source of funds
Documents or information explaining the legitimate origin of money used.
Deposit cap
The maximum amount that can be paid into an account during a set period.
Self-limiting
Voluntarily setting deposit, loss, stake or time caps before playing.
Voluntary exclusion
A formal step preventing one’s own access to covered gambling offers for a stated period.
Safer-gambling message

Report

Phishing
An attempt to obtain credentials, documents or payments by imitating a trusted service.
Conditional probability

Standard deviation
A statistical measure of how results are dispersed around their average.
Sample
A limited set of observed results that may differ substantially from long-run behaviour.
Gross return
The total amount returned before subtracting related stakes, fees or losses.
Net result
The final difference between all amounts received and all amounts committed over a period.
Commission
A fee deducted from a stake, pot, win or transaction under the applicable terms.
Buy-in
The amount paid to enter a tournament, sometimes split between prize pool and fee.
Rebuy
An additional chip purchase allowed in some tournaments during a defined period and under stated rules.
Guaranteed prize pool
The minimum advertised tournament prize pool regardless of final entry numbers.
Bet settlement
Applying the rules to the official result to determine a win, loss, refund or void.
Official result
The result used to settle a market under the source and timing stated in the rules.
Market suspension
A temporary halt to accepting bets during play, verification or major price movement.
Geolocation
A location check used to apply territorial restrictions.
Verified account
An account whose identity information has been checked under the applicable process.
Blacklist
An official or technical list of sites, entities or methods identified as prohibited or risky.
Minor protection
